Welsh Country Cover Welsh Country Arts Page

Welsh Country
is a bi-monthly glossy A4 magazine that is distributed throughout Wales and, through its growing list of subscribers, is finding regular readers across the UK and even overseas. The magazine is produced, published and printed entirely within Wales by an enthusiastic, independent team that has no ties with any large publishing group. We have a broad range of articles and features that celebrate the uniqueness of Wales and provide huge appeal and a great read for anyone with an interest in Wales – be they Welsh or non-Welsh, resident or visitor.

Welsh Country is currently running a regular feature showcasing work produced by local artists. With the goal of promoting an interest in and awareness of art in Wales, the page offers artists the opportunity to display their work to over 100,000 readers. What’s more, for the next few months this page is open to artists completely free of charge!

The contents of the magazine reflects the enormous diversity of Wales, and that certainly includes the Arts & Crafts feature. Other regular features cover walking in Wales, wildlife, equestrian activities, home & garden, alternative therapies, book and music reviews, beauty, cookery and property – an eclectic mix for all to read and enjoy.

Whenever time permits, the Welsh Country team can be seen with their trade stand at various events around the country; they have recently been at Mumbles Produce Market, with the Greener Homes & Buildings Show held at the Royal Welsh Smallholder Show, and at the North Wales Spring Garden & Country Festival in St Asaph. For the latest copy of Welsh Country check out your local newsagent or in case of difficulty please ring

So, are you interested in being featured on Welsh Country’s Arts page? If so, check that you fulfil the criteria below, then get in contact with Welsh Country’s Art Director, Abi Thrift (Tel: 01559 372010; E-mail abi@welshcountry.co.uk). Meanwhile, why not visit your local newsagent and get yourself a copy of Welsh Country magazine – not just a great read, but now providing an excellent opportunity for Wales’ artists too!

So, who is eligible for this offer? If you can answer “yes” to these two questions, your work could be showcased in an upcoming issue of Welsh Country:
1. Are you an artist living and practicing in Wales?
2. Do you currently have a selection of work available for sale?

What will you have to do?
1. Give us a call or drop us an e-mail to let us know that you are interested in appearing on our Arts page.
2. Send us some high-quality images of your work. These can be photographs or high-quality scans (300dpi please!).
3. Let us know, in writing (e-mail or post would be fine), details of your work. We are interested in your background as an artist, the mediums you practice in, any exhibitions you will be holding in the near future, and any further details that you feel would be relevant.

It’s Here!

The new home page of Shared Creation has arrived. It features a slight evolvement in the site layout style. This will probably be updated further in the future. At the moment it is an access point for our existing sections whilst adding a central links repository and a fun polls section.

Hope you like it!

Life Making Zombies

Category: Film, Myspace, News and Announcementsrob @ 9:00 pm

We haven’t mentioned the Consumed project for a while. It is still in progress. Below is a quote from the Consumed MySpace blog.

So where is Consumed?

Floating in preproduction that’s where!

A number of the crew have been taking exams and that slowed up preparatory tasks somewhat. That is something we are happy with. The education of all crew members (including myself) comes first.

We’ve gathered cast; but not assigned roles yet. Roles will come out of workshops / tests / rehearsals that are planned. We need to get a group dynamic just right. So the plan is to see the cast working together before 100% saying who plays who. It sounds long winded but we are after a certain cast chemistry and this seems like a way to get it. That said our cast are terrific. No one famous but we’ve seen them all preform brilliantly in improvs in the past and that gives us a lot of confidence.

Our special effects artist has told me he is ready for the first makeup screen tests. Makeup is very important to Consumed and we’re all keen to see how it looks on screen.

Our Myspace profile is looking better. We have a secret teenage weapon working on it. Look out for her name in the credits.

So where is Consumed?

Heading towards a shoot that’s where.

N0 Liff but Tec - blog

Category: Writings7awek @ 12:58 am

N0 Liff but Tec is a fictional blog, written in some not so obvious future. It’s maintained by a fictional character, who is likely a girl or young woman from Europe sharing her insights and giving advice concerning her every day trouble with technology. The humor occurs from the situations at hand. It’s a sort of sitcom blog if you want. The language and the situations are sometimes excplicit. Or they are meant to be, unfortunately the real author is not a native english speaker and could use some help. But this fact might not disturb if you see it as adding some authenticity to the “accent” of the main character.

There is certainly a connection between this future world and our technology world. Which is what Cyberpunk or SF are supposed to be about. The connection here is however more about feelings. This work also differs very much from traditional writing. It’s derived from real blogs and from what real blogs talk about.
Only the time differs.

Award Winning All Star!

Category: Art, C.V. / Resume / Profile, Drama, Events, Film, News and Announcementsalundpughe @ 1:50 am

Sorry I haven’t been posting for the last two weeks but we’ve been really busy my way and to top it off to our suprise and delight we won the Swansea Bay Film Festival Best Film Noir Award!!

To say that we had absolutly no idea we were in for a chance of winning may sound like the usual modest rubbish that people say but in this case totally true (the other nominees were all superb with far more experience beneath their belts) and so we’d actually joined the guests up stairs on the balcony meaning when our names was called then not only did it take us an age to get to the stage but I also fell down the stairs in excitement…

Swansea Bay Film Festival Award

Of course we couldn’t of done it without our key players: Gareth Ward (A.D.), Rachel Logan (Proj Manager & all round awesomeness) and Ben Wilson (Composer); my actors: Geraint Connors, Dionne Glen, Hannah Shepheard, Nathan Diaz and Saqib Aziz; and all the people that helped in one way or another to ensure it got made: William Pughe (for the expertise and Steadicam), Monica and Robin Dale (for transport, food and support), Matt Fisher and Jenny Smith (for the imdb write ups), Crystal from Texas (for pimping us in the public voting sections), Stuart Neil & Wendy Key Bright (for the inspiration and constant encouragement) and of course my friends and family.

Thank you also to Binda Singh for the huge amount of enthusiasm and planning that has been put into the Festival itself (it blew Cardiff’s festival out of the water) and the judges for being a little daring with their selection (non linear psychological noir dramas are not known for attracting prizes!).

Finally I just wanted to add a thank you to ‘Scarpaci/ Kelly Productions’ for an unbelievably insightful week of seminars - the amount offered by these three people was beyond generous and I hope one day I can both somehow return their generosity but also make them proud with what I’ve gained from it.

Result of Saturdays Film Meet

Category: Events, News and Announcementsrob @ 1:13 pm

Last Saturday amidst blazing summer heat and a near empty bar (it was a nice day and people wanted to be outside), three film fans talked about making movies.

We covered subjects such as how to make steadicams for next to nothing; coping with production time scales, viable cheap camcorders and what is cool on Youtube at the moment (if in doubt - ask a ninja).

As a result of the chat I’ve decided to do some more research and post an article on how to make a steadicam; And of course I’ll be looking at running more meetings in the future. Though with the combination of summer holidays and Consumed production deadlines I may need to take a break from the film meetings. I’ll let you know the decision soon. Unless someone is really keen for more film meets in July. In which case I’ll oblige and get one set up.
