Consumed Progress Report

Category: Film, Reportsrob @ 2:05 pm

It’s time to mention how things are going with the Consumed project.

Fortunately it’s good news. In the last couple of months we’ve been looking at avenues for help and most critically refining the story. Most of the focus has ended up on the scripts. We feel the scripts and the story are critical. Shooting will be low budget, with time constraints and limited rehearsal opportunity for actors. These are all factors that can reduce quality in the final movie. That’s something we want to avoid and so we are targeting the fundamentals. That means getting a great story together.

We’re also looking at our release schedule. The decision has been made to release a short pilot before doing the detailed mini series episodes. The pilot is a compression of our story but should make interesting and exciting viewing. It’s hoped that we can use it generate interest in future episodes.

Work is also afoot to run some video blogs. More news in the not so distant future. These are getting closer.

Now for the really big news. We have been out to a location in the Brecon Beacons with most of the core crew and a video camera (a Sony mini DV). The objective was to take a look at how segments of our story looked when filmed. Effectively a test using the backstage crew as cast. What a test it was! Out on top of a mountain we checked the framing and location requirements for a major fight scene, some chases and atmosphere sequences. Critically both our action and mood shots were looking very good indeed. The day out exhausted our director and producer; who were tasked with running up and down steep hills time after time; but the end results were worth it. We got some great footage. We also got some great material for a future blooper reel. We’re going to keep all this rough footage and it should if all goes well you should get a chance to see it in the future.

All this means that things are going well and we are gearing up for summer shoot. We are getting closer to unleashing our zombies.

Swansea Film Festival

Category: Film, News and Announcements, Uncategorizedalundpughe @ 4:58 pm
First apologies for this as I hate the idea that this is less about what’s the better work and more about who has more contacts but as everyone else will be doing the same I’m gonna have to play it their way.

I’ve been nominated for the Swansea Film Festival in the Best Film Noir section for my first short The Girl, The Gun and The Desert (See IMDB for more details).

For those who like my work then please, please, please vote by sending a blank email to the Swansea Film Fest ( pughe@swanseafilmfestival.com ) logging your selection for The Girl The Gun and The Desert.

Thank you so much :)

Just for fun here’s a comic book version of the prologue!!

Cardiff Film Meet

Category: Eventsrob @ 4:50 pm

As promised earlier we are going to start to organise meet-ups. The first will be in Cardiff and focus on film making. We’ll try and do other meets in other places and also look into creating virtual meeting grounds using VOIP technology for members and readers who are to distant to reach a meeting. Future meetings are likely to be about writing, photography, art and music

I’ve pencilled in Saturday 29th April for this meeting. I’d suggest that we locate in Cardiff Bay, but I am open to other suggestions.

Round Up!

Category: Round Upsrob @ 9:55 am

Once again it’s time to take a look at what is going on in Shared Creation.

I’ll start by drawing your attention to two new projects

First Up is Alun D Pughe. Alun is a film maker from Cardiff. Alun has a determination to make film interesting and challenging productions. He’s looking for collaborators to help him achieve this goal. You can take a look at his CV here and his goals here.

The next new project to come along was Interstellar. Interstellar is a SF story that follows in detail and realism a near future trip to the stars. It’s a bold and big story; we are very proud that the author is publishing it in Shared Creation.

Time now for an update on existing projects.

Consumed
is gathering pace. We’ve had a number of script revisions and re-evaluations recently. The initial Consumed group is aiming at getting the initial story right before expanding out to a production team. A lot of work on the story and how we plan to release the film is being done right now - I’ll be able to make some announcements on this shortly.

Writing on the Web has hit a slow time. The good news is the publication of Interstellar :). Our goal of helping writing is going slow. If anyone can think of a way to help this project along then I’d be very grateful.

Next (of course) the future

One idea being mooted around are Shared Creation Meets. The first is planned to be a filmmaker meet to talk about Consumed and other films. I’ll shortly confirm the date and venue.

Well that’s it for the moment, but I have a feeling there will be more announcements soon so keep on reading.
