If you’ve just visited http://www.sharedcreation.com then no doubt you have had a big surprise. The old style home page has been replaced with an information packed blog style page. The reasoning for this is simple. Shared Creation has evolved into a network that is information and inspiration centric (with a bit of lunacy thrown in via Twitter). As such it needed a home page that reflected this. Something that brought everything together.
There is more work to be done. We need to reinstate that links database, get commenting back on and also re-launch our Google Ads but this change does reflect a major step forward. One that is designed to make Shared Creation much easier to use.
We hope you like the changes -our plan is simple; make Shared Creation more useful to you.
I’m writing this on a Saturday night after running some major upgrades on the Shared Creation blogging engine.
Right now it all looks a little different, and I feel compelled to let you know what is going on.
Shared Creation has been running for time and its been overdue for a fresher look. The posting has also gotten a little confused between the Magazine and Projects section. From now on the Magazine will be much more a traditional blog, it will run news, articles, updates regarding Shared Creation and other associated material. The Projects section will spend its time highlighting creative projects, and will talk about what it is like to create things in a digital age. All previous posts will be left in current positions to allow for ease of continued access.
This is all part of a series of updates that will move Shared Creation from being a cluster of sites / blogs and turn it into a network that aims to be a useful resource for people trying to create art in a digital age.
I’ll expound more on this and the changes coming to the Shared Creation over the next weeks as the changes bed in.
For just over a month now service has been poor with very few article updates on Projects and in the Magazine. Although a good service of images and other odds and ends has been posted to our Shared Creation on tumblr account.
The situation is that I’ve been through an office move whilst other work has also been at a very high level. This has contributed to a lack of time and energy to maintaining stories.
The good news is that things are now settling down and for a while at least normal service will resume.
I say for a while simply because after a few years and now a change in working location I’m wondering if now may be the time to rationalise Shared Creation a little. The original twin blog format was original and help readers find the right style of story for their needs, although with other services being added I am wondering if a single stream of material isn’t the best way forward.
I will ponder this and deliver the answer soon.

I’ve amalgamated the Shared Creation feeds and some personal material here. It makes for a interesting stream of thought. It may be the way to go for Shared Creation.

I haven’t talked about the ongoing development of Shared Creation in a while. Mostly this is because after my initial experiments it has settled down into a cycle of posting material and running routine maintenance. The end result has been a growing readership and increased exposure to interesting material for myself. Of course there are also my other projects that I cover on Shared Creation. These also move at their own rate. Everything it seems has its natural pace, and whilst pace can be increased, natural development does have a nice feel to it.
Until that is something new comes along.

I’d like to introduce you to http://sharedcreation.tumblr.com/ AKA the Shared Creation Tumblelog.
I spend a lot of time online and thought it might be interesting to have a place where I can publicly file away interesting stories and images. Just a random stream of discoveries that don’t easily fit into the rest of Shared Creation but is related and good to see.
Of course what I don’t want to see is to have a grand idea and to not follow it through. So before announcing it I set the target of 5 entries per week - and I found that to be a good posting number and easy to achieve. From now on - there will be 5 entries per week in the tumblelog. In truth this is a new idea - and a definite experiment, but I have an idea it will work out.
You may be asking why I didn’t host it myself in Shared Creation. There are three reasons. First it was an instant set up, with a great system for making instant entries. Take a look at tumblr.com - its a great way of instantly posting information. Secondly - as Shared Creation gets more readers it makes sense to move an experimental new section into off site bandwidth. Allowing the new addition to find it’s feet without my bandwidth getting any larger. Finally of course - by making the tumble blog independent it has a chance of bringing more readers in.

First of all - if you have experienced any problems using Projects on the 7th of May - my many apologies. We have been upgrading the WordPress engine that controls projects. This had become a necessary update. We needed the additional stability and security that the new WordPress release brought with it. Over the last year our readership has increased considerably, and as a result of the resultant loading on our server we needed to do something. Updating seemed the first option we should take.
I hope you enjoy an improvement in service. We’ll try and add in some facilities for you over the coming months.
