Get Animated

On Thursday 21st February
you have a chance of working with the artist Thomas Hopson to create
your own animation, on the theme of people and places in a workshop
being run by Ffotogallery. The workshop runs from 1pm – 4.30pm and
you will be able to walk away with a DVD of your work. The cost of
attending is £10 and the workshop is rated as being suitable
for all ages.

Love at Niagara

The good news - nothing to do with cheesy American hotels near a famous place of falling water. Well not entirely anyway….

There is no bad news

As this is all about a photographer talking about Love, amongst Alex Sloth’s Niagara exhibition.

Here’s the info:

Celebrated photographer Richard Page will discuss the theme of `love` within
Alec Soth`s `NIAGARA` exhibition. With particular reference to the hotel room,
the love letter, the waterfall and their relevance within photography and
film.

Pitch Perfect

Avid are looking for the perfect 60 second film pitch. If you think you have what it takes to convey the awesomeness of grandiose cinematic ambition then this could well be the perfect competition for you.

Here’s how it works - upload a video of you pitching a film idea. It gets voted on and the 20 most voted for pitches get moved onto round two - in round two you have to submit a covering letter and business plan for your idea. A panel of industry experts then take a look and decide a winner.

    YouTube Partner Program in the UK

    The Youtube partner programme - where you get paid when your video gets viewed has now left the confines of North America and on January 30th reached the UK. Opening up the possibility for Brits to make money from the site.

    Of course there are plenty of criteria you have to meet to become eligable for the programme. Thats not really a bad thing. It just helps money go to those who make popular, original work.

    Upcoming Workshops in Cardiff

    Ffotogallery are planning two workshops in February for those with an interest in photography. Both are based at the Chapter Arts centre. So without further ado - here are the details

    Fine Printing Workshop
    Date:                 Saturday 9th February 2008
    Time:                 1p – 6pm
    Photographer:     Marc Arkless
    Venue:               Ffotogallery, Chapter Arts Centre.
    Cost:                 £25 (£20 Ffotogallery Members)

    This is a one day refresher course in Black and White printing. So if want to stop being all digital - put photoshop aside and spend some with an experience Black & White photographer.

    Pinhole Cameras for Kids!
    Date:             Monday 11th February 2008,
    Time:             10am - 2.00pm
    Artist:            Faye Chamberlain
    Venue:           Ffotogallery, Chapter Arts Centre.
    Cost:             £25 (£20 Ffotogallery Members) (Includes all materials

    This one sounds a lot of fun - make a camera, and take a photo with it. This is a family friendly workshop suitable for ages 6 - 14 (accompanied by an adult). So borrow a child and play with a pinhole camera! Great!
