Is an Open exhibition for new and emerging artists held at the Bargate Monument Gallery in Southhampton. The organisers are "a space arts".
The exhibition is about how far art has evolved in response to everyday culture and what happens when address the outlook of our current society. That’s a fairly lofty aspiration but it really means this - have we moved far enough from our ape brethren to be really proud of what we have achieved or not?
As you might be starting to guess this is an exhibition with attitude - you’ll certainly get this when you look at the web site for a space arts.
The good news for Shared Creation readers is that arts of all disciplines will be considered.
The submission deadline is 25th January 2008 with a panel review on 4th February 2008.
The actual exhibition will show between 19th March 2008 and 27th April 2008
It is after all the season to send documenaries to Canada.
Or something like that - at least Canada tends to have plenty of Christmas snow.
But enough randomness lets talk about Hot Docs; which is a film festival dedicated to the documentary. Founded in fact to aid independant documentary film makers. That was in 1993 and today the festival is the largest of its type in North America and accepts submissions from all around the world.
Obviously to make a submission you need a good detail from the submission guidelines. Fortunately Hot Docs has a clear and well structured web site that makes this easy.
For more information take a look at Hot Docs.
If you’re a photographer with a bit of proven experience who is looking for a potentially interesting commission please read the attached PDF. It comes from Ffotogallery - the Welsh Agency promoting photographic art and debate. Next year Ffotogallery will be commissioning a new body of lens based work culminating in a major exhibition. The brief for this one is extremely wide and would suit someone with an eye for experimentation.
IF you are interested - good luck.

We last mentioned Picnik quite some time again - back then it was considered to be a useful online tool with potential. Since then the development team over at Picnik have continued to improve their tool.
Now though a deal between Flickr and Picnik has been done that enables you to edit photos directly from your Flickr account. This is a great example of how web sites can converge their services to collaborate into bringing us a better service.
Things are definitely getting more interesting on the tools front

It’s been a while since I covered a new feature in Myspace. Since Shared Creation inception it’s added a few new features but despite it’s success I was never really happy with how it worked and only covered it occasionally.
Then Myspace starts to improve its user interface. True it looks smarter, and a little more like Facebook but it is at least easier to use. But easier to use is important since I believe computers should be as effortless as possible. So I started to take more notice. In the past week they hit me with another whammy - they call it Impact.
Impact is a new Channel on myspace that is designed to bring people together to make a difference in the world. It seems to be especially designed to help get volunteers and resources to those charities that need them. In other word this is large scaled social networking being used to improve awareness of social enterprises.
I think it’s a great idea.
It could be particularly useful to community projects in the arts arena. Thing what an influx of those really interested in music could do community music projects or radio.
That is also probably far too small an example as this is something that has international reach.
