Social Networking and Selling
I’ve just taken a tour of si-mi.com. Si-Mi is a social networking site designed to allow the creators of all types of artistic work to shown, compared voted on and sold. Si-Mi is a for sale library of writing, music, images, movies, podcasts, games, software and fashion. If it can be expressed they seem to allow it to be sold.
It’s an nice twist on the digital print shop or social networking sites. Networking lets people see your work, and the print shops are all concerned with sales. This combination of the feels more natural, less pressurised and forced.
For this reason I hope that Si-Mi does well. In fact I am thinking about putting some of my work on it.
As an extra incentive to film makers Si-Mi is running a short film festival with the prize of a trip to Cannes. For more details visit the site.
