Democracy in Action
It’s time to take a look at Democracy. Something I discovered via Pretty Shitty City.
Democracy is nothing less than the means to create your own Internet TV Channel. Want to create a personal version of YouTube - take a look Democracy.
It sounds very ambitious but when you take a closer look it all seems very plausible. Democracy is an open source PHP application that allows for the upload and distribution of media files via the web. In essence it is a content management system for video. Seeing as bloggers, podcasters and community site owners everywhere have already gotten used to the magic of PHP driven content management this really is a next logical step.
I’ll admit to not having used Democracy yet - so here is a beta TV channel from Undercurrents.
In the meantime I’m wondering if we can use Democracy as part of Consumed’s distribution
Off course with all talk of TV channels lets not forget the Democracy player. I’ve not tested it yet but its ability to handle video on RSS Feeds, Torrents, Video Blog, and You Tube looks like a pretty handy combination. WIndows, Mac and Linux downloads are available.
