Things That are Updated and Cool
Through 2006 a number of websites have been noted here as being useful, good ideas or maybe just fun. 2007 is looming and I’ve received some more news on a few of these that really needed mentioning before the bell tolls for the end of this year.
First up is Eyespot, the video sharing and editing site. Updated in Eyespot are their groups system, plus an improved method of giving your work a chance of being on their home page. They’ve also created an application that assists in uploading video directly off a mobile phone. I’ve not tried this last feature yet so I’m not sure if it is US centric or not.
Next we come to Picnik - the web based photo editor. I’ve liked Picknik since I first played with it. It’s on my list of tools to use when away from my regular PC. Recent updates to Picnik are considerable. It now supports the sending of images directly to over 13 different web sites and services, better searching of Flickr, and when working with a Flickr Pro account you can choose to save an edited image as a new image (great news). Overall Flickr integration has been improved and you can now select to auto-tag images in Picnik.
Finally I’d just like to mention Google Docs and Spreadsheets. This started out as the great online word processor Writely, and has now turned into a really useful text editor. I’m a great fan and a great deal of Shared Creation content is now prepared as a Google Doc (I’m always moving between PCs so its a great facility for me to have a decent text editor where ever I go). Text from Google Docs also tends to copy into Blogging software more cleanly than from MS Word, and I like anything that makes my life easier.
Thats it for the moment.
