This summer Blast - the BBC project for encouraging creative and media projects amongst young people is going on tour around the UK in a truck that has been converted into a mobile digital studio. The tour itinerary can be found here.
The Blast project and this summers tour is a great opportunity to not only get advice but to showcase your own work. It is without any doubt worth checking out.
To find out more check out the Blast Home page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/blast/
Blast’s tag line of Make it for real really does sum this project up. It is all about helping you make media things happen. We’re sorry at SC to have missed out on covering the events at Norwich, Manchester and Liverpool, but there is plenty of time to get involved in Blast both at events and through the web site.
Shared Creation will be taking a short break for the next week. Afterwards we will come back with more news, projects and upgrades to the web site.
So far I have been impressed with the development for Lightroom for Mac, and have been waiting to announce the release of the Windows beta . Well that wait is now over. Lightroom for Windows Beta 1.0 has just been released by Adobe.
If you have any interest in processing digital photographs at all then you should take a look at Lightroom on either platform.
The place to go is: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom/
I’ve just discovered eyespot.com. On the face of it this is another YouTube clone. Then you realise the difference and it is a biggee…
Eyespot has an online tool that let’s you combine media. Now you can mix videos, photographs and music together. So far so cool. Now it gets even cooler. You can create edits using other peoples work. So you can make a video entirely from content posted to Eyespot, or combine it with your own material to build a brand new mix.
In other words the creative possibilities here are enormous.
As a nice touch you can also download mixes made on Eyespot for your own usage.
I can’t state the scope of potential here for creating really original work or for getting access to material you may not be able to shoot yourself.
Of course if you do not want to see your own work being altered this is not the place to post it; but if you want to see what others can do with your material - great!
Here is the exhibition time table for Craft Renaissance. Every year the small South Wales arts and crafts centre runs a number of themed exhibitions. For the latter half of this year it looks like this
Currently open and running until the 22nd of August is Shades of Blue. This one features some especially nice pieces of Bristol Blue Glass.
The Autumnal title running from the 1st of September through to 22nd October is Shining Through
Finally there is the Christmas exhibition running from November 1st through to December the 24th. The theme is of course Christmas.
There is still to submit work for the Autumn and Christmas exhibitions
