Story Telling Networking for Photographers
We’ve just heard about Tabblo. An interesting addition to the growing list of social networking photography sites out there. Why interesting? Well for starters it lets you design pages to collect photos and text on. Rather than working on the principle of building catalogues and indexes, this thing lets you build a good looking web page around your photographs; where the emphasis is on using your pictures and ideas to tell a story. What an idea - we all like to tell stories. This ups the ante on photo resentation a fair way. It is a great idea, my view on this is that Tabblo users in the future will come up with interesting uses for this beyond the current betas apparent functionality. People do tend to go beyond expectations when allowed to creative.
It also networks with networking sites. Well ok it integrates with Flickr. A fantastic move. Flickr has an enormous network and brilliant options on cataloguing and organising your work. Integrating that to a layout / story telling based site is a smart move.
By know you must be wondering about the cost. Well for the moment the cost is free. Tabblo plans to make money by selling prints of photographs. Though there is a good chance of premium priced services in the future.
We like the idea of Tabblo. It brings together words, pictures and smart layouts. Less geek and more chic.
