DivX have launched a web player code generator. The idea seems to be that you give the generator a URL containing your movie plus it’s on screen dimensions and you will be provided with some code that can be inserted into MySpace or other social networking sites enabling the display of your movie encapsulated in a player.

The player looks like it’s trying to provide some high-end playback features such as a full screen mode and HD capability at almost no effort to the film maker. I’d guess the question is will this compete with items such as the YouTube player.

In order to encourage take up of this player for a limited time DivX are offering a free licence for their Create package.
