Lightroom is workflow software for photographers. It’s purpose is to streamline the process of indexing, enhancing, viewing and printing photographs. At this point in time it is still in development and is only a beta. However it is a beta that is free to download and trial. Though it should be noted that the trial ends on 30th June 2006.
I’ve installed the beta and have to say that for an unfinished product it looks very good indeed. The workflow is simple to understand - and fast. It offers nice options for both printing finished works and contact sheets. Best of all it seems to like handling RAW files.
Now this is not a full review. Perhaps that will come in the future but for the moment Adobe seem to have a very pleasant piece of software on their hands. It’s clear and simple to use and seems to do a good job.
So worth taking a look at - but please remember it is a beta.
As for Windows users - a release is planned and it is possible to sign up for a free notification when that time comes.
