Simplifications
Now that there is some operation in Shared Creation we’re finding it easier to improve it’s operation. Last time it was a separation in design between this Journal and the Projects section. Now we’ve simplified the interface on the Projects section. Trimming of some of the nice to have, but ultimately fat excesses off the sidebar. Or to put it another way the chat / announce box has gone. It’s presence was obscuring really useful sections such as the members area and tag cloud. So it had to go. We’ve also deactivated the forums for a while. The forums were designed for off feed chat. A sort of playground / sand box area. However Shared Creation is currently being redistributed by some heavyweight players in the blog world. So there is more mileage in good articles and comments than off feed chat. If the forums are needed or wanted, they can always be brought back.
The next phase of development is in publicity and education. The more publicity we get the more we can do. We also need to help users understand how Shared Creation can help them. The biggest point of confusion seems to be that it uses Shared blogging technology. It does this to allow multiple article originators to help themselves and each other. You can expect some articles here and in the projects section coming up to help explain this situation.
The good news is that with the feeds and work done so far we’re picking up an increasing number of page hits, readers and advertising clicks. So all is well on that score.
There is still a lot to do, but things are moving forwards, step by step. Just as was planned and wanted.
