Shared Creation goes Beta TODAY!
Well I’ve had a good post Christmas look at the site and decided that with the primary modules in place it was time for testing. I’ve placed a few requests out there for Beta testers and am hoping for responses. However if you read this and fancy having a go at using this resource in it’s early days - please feel free to do so.
We’re running and inviting members.
It’s an exciting moment.
Getting much closer to a site launch with more components coming online
We are a lot closer to being able to let the world know about Shared Creation. Primarily because we have 3 core sections complete. The Forum, The Magazine and now the Projects Section
I’ll just spend a moment on the projects section.
Projects are being run using Media Wiki. Why a Wiki? As I was working out the spec for the projects section it became obvious that due to the variety of projects and endeavours that may be aided and run through Shared Creation we needed a fairly open system of putting information online. It also had to be material that could be edited, and I felt that there was need to let the community add pertinent sections and pages as needed. This all pointed to a Wiki.
There is the long term question of integrating the Wiki , Forum and Magazine. For the moment though let the focus be on tools, and the tailor the future for what the Shared Community actually needs.
That’ll come with Beta running, and later user responses.
Right now we have a viable toolset and are not very far from testing and real operations.
First job of the New Year has been to update the engine for this section of Shared Creation ready for our launch. We’re now running the journal and magazine section on WordPress 2. Most of the updates in this new engine are internal and not visible. However one big alteration is a major rewrite of the post writing and editing facilities. This is important as I want to have a first class interface for all our future writers. For the journal and magazine (ok Blog), we now have a great interface. Let’s hope that once we launch it helps people turn in some great articles.
