A Delicious Moment

The problem with link pages and an inspiration

When I started thinking about Shared Creation I went to put in a page of links. Links with a focus on the kinds of additional resources our readers might need. I pulled it out. It felt staid, old-fashioned, unhip, and it was really a shot back to the web of yore where everyone listed links for surfers. It wasn’t right for Shared Creation.

The other night I was at a seminar. One of the speakers was evangelising the Web 2.0 concept and del.icio.us in particular. So I came back and looked more deeply into the web link sharing site. It was a great idea. A combination of links database and social network. This was how to make links more useful, and more relevant to how the Web is used today. This is why Shared Creation now has a links page- based on my account at del.icio.us.

That seminar came up with a few good ideas. The speakers were from a variety of different backgrounds. Then the obvious hit me. I’d just travelled over an hour to do exactly what Shared Creation is all about. Talking with people on a common topic from different backgrounds, and getting their ideas, experience and expertise.

It was a real motivational shot in the arm.

Truly a delicious moment. Experiencing something that reinforces what you are thinking on is a nice experience.
